Sherlock - The Hounds of Baskerville

On Sunday January 8 the second episode ofthe current series of Sherlock was aired. This one was based on the story the Hound of the Baskervilles. Personally this is my favourite of all theSherlock Holmes stories and I can say I was a bit worried about how this wouldbe done. The story line was different tothe original but the tone was a bit similar even if the motives behind everythingwas different.

The episode starts with Sherlock being verybored and wanting a new case. WhenWatson says he should check his email he ridicules the case that he found abouta girl who wants him to find Bluebell her rabbit who went missing after glowingin the dark. Luckily Henry Knight comesto see them and brings with him the story of his father’s murder by a hugehound in Dartmoor. Sherlock in his usualfashion disregards the whole thing apart from the fact that Henry used the wordhound.

The story line of this episode did detractfrom the original quite a bit but then I don’t see how they could have kept theoriginal story without seeming outdated. In this story Baskerville is not the name of the affected family butrather a secret military research base. AnywaySherlock and Watson go to Dartmoor, which honestly is really beautiful while beingtotally creepy at night, to investigate Henry’s claims.

I have to say that the way the charactershandled everything added to the eerie feel of this episode. The scene were wonderfully done as we withyou feeling nervous and a little scared for everyone without being terrifiedout of your mind or bored. I did feelbad for Watson in this episode because Sherlock was kind of freaking out andwas really mean to him.

There are a host of wonderful scenes inthis episode that are just really amazingly done. The creepiest for me was when Henry is athome and his outside light keeps going on. Russell Tovey was unbelievable in this scene and you really felt forhim.

All in all this was another wonderfulepisode from the Sherlock crew. Therewere twists because I seriously thought that it was either Henry’s therapist orthe doctor who makes animals glow. Therewere also good moments between all the characters.

Sherlock - A Scandal in Belgravia

On New Year’s Day Sherlock returned to ourscreens on BBC 1 and what a return it was. Honestly I have been waiting for a year for this because Sherlock isexcellent. The first episode was basedon the story a Scandal in Bohemia. WhenI say based I should probably say loosely based as the characters have beenchanged to suit the new modern Sherlock look.

That aside the story was once againwonderfully done. You have to give it toSteven Moffat who wrote this episode. Notonly did he bring in the story of the Scandal in Boehemia but also otherstorylines only found in Sherlock like the continued appearance of Jim Moriartyand Sherlock’s brother Mycroft Holmes.

I like how the episode picked up directlywhere the last, The Great Game, left off. That is with the stand-off between Sherlock, Watson and Moriarty. I have to say that I love how Moriarty isportrayed in this show as this mastermind who is a little quirky. The perfect enemy for Sherlock really. So Moriarty gets a phone call in the middleof a stand-off which is a little funny because all of them are like sure youcan get that.

Sherlock seems a bit lost after this. I love how when Sherlock is lost he solvescases and dismisses others. Unfortunately for Sherlock John’s blog is doing really well and they arenow celebrities and we get a picture of Benedict Cumberbatch in the iconicSherlock Holmes hat. I have to say hepulls it off rather well.

The main story of this episode is that afemale member of the royal family has been seeing a dominatrix, Irene Adler,who now has compromising pictures of the person. The government obviously wants the picture toensure that the royals can’t be blackmailed. They send Sherlock to get the picture back but he becomes a bit involvedwith Adler as she escapes when he tries to get the picture.

Benedict Cumberbatch was again excellent asSherlock. He seems to have this abilityto bring out the genius in the character while still being someone that is socompletely strange to those around him. I feel that you can really connect with the character even though youmost of the time do not get his thought patterns. In this episode the way he portraysSherlock’s interest in Adler is wonderful. He didn’t go down the route of smitten but it was more subtle and youreally got to see progression in Sherlock’s character.

Martin Freeman was also wonderful asWatson. I love how he doesn’t know whatSherlock is going on about but sometimes does understand Sherlock anyway. Martin Freeman also seems to capture the factthat Watson completely trusts Sherlock without him seeming to have no thoughtsof his own.

Lara Pulver who plays Irene Adler was agreat actress for this role. She isdomineering yet approachable at the same time. I also love how she shows that Adler is interested in Sherlock but atthe same time not.

The characters were unbelievably portrayedand the story was written very well. There never seemed to be a time when you thought okay where is this allgoing. There were a few twists that youreally don’t see coming. I personallylike the fact that someone one ups Sherlock and he doesn’t feel stupid about itbut rather accepts that there is someone who can match him.

Overall I would have to say that A Scandalin Belgravia definitely lived up to what I was expecting. The only problem was that the episode had toend.

Treasure Island Sky 1

On New Year’s Day and January 2^ndTreasure Island was shown on Sky 1. Iwas really looking forward to this show because the trailers looked reallygood. Now I have to admit that I havenever read the book so I didn’t really know the whole story beforewatching. That I feel should not havebeen a problem at all but I found that I seemed to be missing things along theway.

The first episode started off well with thewhole story of why Long John Silver only has one leg and why they need to getto the island. The problems startedshortly after this. Now that we were offthe boat there was an inn or a tavern place. This is where we meet Jim the boy we saw in the trailers. Now in stumbles one of the pirates from theopening scene but if they told us how long after the whole ship scene this is Imissed that.

Anyway the pirate is staying at the innthat Jim and his Mother own. He seemed abit mad and people try to kill him. Theydon’t really tell us why he is there or why Jim is so buddy, buddy with himeither. In the end I found his death abit anticlimactic.

In the first episode the story progressionwas kind of slow but does pick up near the end. Now this may just be the way the story is or a ploy to get us to watchthe second part. To me the second partof the miniseries was better than the first. That could have been because more was happening and the first episodewas to build up the characters and story line.

While the story was a bit slow I have tosay that the acting was rather good. EddieIzzard did a really good job as Long John Silver. He was bad but in a way that you could stillsee him as good, if that makes any sense. The way he portrayed the different sides of the character was excellentas he moved from being the manipulative pirate to the cook and friend that Jimlikes.

I had never heard of Toby Regbo before buthe was actually a very good Jim. Thefact that he was able to show how Jim goes from a naive young man to someonewho knows what’s going on was unbelievable. Unfortunately the character himself often annoyed me but I can’t faultToby Regbo for his performance.

Elijah Wood was as usual brilliant in hisportrayal of Ben Gunn. My one problemwas that he simply wasn’t in the show enough. Each time I see Elijah Wood I notice how versatile as an actor heis. At first Ben Gunn is just a followerbut when we see him next he is a little crazy from spending way too much timealone. I didn’t know that Elijah Woodcould pull crazy off so well.

The other cast members were also verygood. Philip Glenistter played CaptainSmollent very well. He captured what itwould be like to be a captain on this kind of mission. Rupert Penry-Jones was unbelievable as SquireTrelawney. He really got the wholebetter than you attitude and the decent into insanity that this characterseemed to go through.

All in all the show was okay. I feel the slow pace of the story may havelet it down a bit but then maybe the book is like this as well. The cast was magnificent and really capturedthe emotions of the characters.

New Year TV

So it is officially 2012! What does that mean for us really? Well it means that there is new TV comingup! A lot of shows are starting todayand in the next week or so. Let’s take alook at all the new shows starting on New Year’s Day.

Sherlock

This is actually something I’ve beenwaiting for all year and now it is here! So this is the second season of the show and like the last will onlyhave three episodes in it. The first is AScandal in Belgravia which is based off A Scandal in Bohemia. This will air at 8:10pm on BBC1.

Treasure Island

You may have noticed all the trailers andads for this show. It looks quite goodfrom the ads and it has Elijah Wood in it. The first of two parts will be shown tonight at 7pm on Sky 1.

Got to Dance

Another season of this wonderful dancecompetition is here. I really like thisshow because I know that the judges know what they are talking about. The panel consists of Ashley from Diversity,Adam Garcia and Kimberley Wyatt, a former Pussycat Doll. This show is on at 6pmon Sky 1 tonight.

So that’s the line up for New Year’s Day sowhat is coming up in the following week?

Celebrity Big Brother

On Thursday another season of Big Brotheris going to start with Celebrity Big Brother. I still don’t know who is going to be in the house but I hope there ismore action than last year. On a goodnote there will be limited live feed which is good but I wish there wascomplete live feed. The launch will beon Thursday 10pm on Channel 5.

New Girl

This new show is coming to us on Friday 6on Channel 4. It’s about a girl whomoves in with 3 single guys and what they get up to. I hope it’s going to be as good as thetrailer makes it out to be.

Stella

Also coming on Friday is Stella on Sky 1 at9pm. This is a show set in South Walesso I feel it should be good as the Welsh seem to come out with good shows (thatI’ve seen). It looks like it will bequite funny and we always need some good comedy shows.

Take Me Out

Next Saturday at 7:30pm Take Me Out is backwith the third season. This is a datingshow where 30 see if a single man is someone they would want to date. This rather odd dating show is hosted byPaddy McGuinness who adds a bit of comedy to the whole thing.

So that is what we can look forward totonight and the rest of the week. Hopeall the shows are as good as they seem.

Big Brother 2011 - 2nd Eviction Recap

On Friday we had the 2^nd BigBrother 2011 eviction. First to go hadbeen Tashi and the housemates up last week were Heaven and Rebeckah. I really wanted Rebeckah to go but Heavenjust grates on my nerves like anything.

Anyway Brian announced the name to thecrowd using red and blue corners which I thought was a bit stupid. I mean sure they fight with each other but itwas really dumb to do that. The crowdseems to dislike both of them. Afterthat whole thing we got to see a recap of the last 24 hours in the house.

So after the whole recap thing which wasn’tall that interesting we finally get to the eviction. The crowd seriously booed Rebeckah when Briansaid their names. Okay so they booedHeaven as well but not as much. I thinkthe crowd was chanting ‘get Rebeckah out’ but I can’t be sure.

We now got to see the videos that thehousemates recorded as a bid to get last minute votes. They were equally bad. Heaven said that she can be stronger and thatshe gives the housemates positivity. Rebeckah didn’t want to be evicted and feels that she deserves tostay. She said she has been herself,honest and straight and that she will miss Aden. She also said if she stays in the house therewill be good times ahead.

I don’t know what it is but Brian wasreally grating on me during the eviction show. Maybe I’m just missing Davina. She at least made this a lot more fun. Brian now spoke to the house and the person with the fewest votes willnow be announced.

The second housemate to leave Big Brother2011 is Rebeckah! She now has to stay inthe house until after The Bachelor.

When Rebeckah came out she wasn’t allemotional which was a pleasant change to Tashi who attempted to cry. The song played for her was Maneater. Ironic since she said that she was going totease the boys in there.

During her interview she told Brian thatshe was honest and truthful in the house. No she wasn’t we say her lie to Jay. Brian asked her why she thinks the public saved Heaven and not her. She said that Heaven provides more in thehouse meaning she is a lunatic and if Rebeckah was a member of the public shewould also want to keep her in the house. When asked who she thinks nominated her she basically got it spot on.

She was a bit shocked when she saw thatAnton had nominated her. Thereason? She thought he would never dothat to Aden. I can’t believe that sheadmitted that she sometimes wants to kill Mark. She feels that Heaven did not nominate her as part of a game plan. The plan being that she would look like thebetter person if she didn’t.

She finally admitted that she did tell Jayabout the food thing but only after they showed her the clip. She then went on to say that her eating withHeaven and her telling Jay were actually an hour apart and Aden had told herthat Heaven was eating everything because he was in the storeroom cleaningup. I think that’s a lie.

When they showed her clips from what shehad been doing with Aden I feel she looked a bit shocked. Maybe she didn’t realise how what she wasdoing looked to the public? Maybe shedidn’t realise she was being hot and cold with him? Who knows? Anyway she did admit that she did once fancy Mark but not as much asAden. Of course she wants Aden to winbig surprise there!

We then get to see the message she left forthe house. It was mainly for Aden,surprise surprise. She said that she’sgoing to miss him and see him when they are both out. She said to watch out for Anton because he’sa snake. Heaven is an actress but Harryis cool so stick with him. He should alsostick with Maisy because she’s a good girl and they could be good mates. The others housemates pale intoinsignificance. He should also stay trueand she will see him soon.

I actually thought that was a good messageto leave. You really don’t want those Ilove you all and miss you things that Tashi did. She at least got a last dig in and helped outone of the other housemates. Heavenannoyed me during the video with her talking. Personally I think she annoyed everyone. If Heaven doesn’t get immunity she will probably be up again next week.

So that was the 2^ndeviction. The next nominations will takeplace on Monday but we only see them on Tuesday so let’s see what happens.

Big Brother 2011 - 2nd Nomination Show Recap

Yesterday was the second nomination show. Luckily Harry has immunity from thenominations as he won a chicken task where he had to eat lots of popcorn. I’m happy about this because I really likeHarry. Anyway on to thenominations.

Aaron

1^st nomination was Heaven. The reason was the whole argument she hadwith Rebeckah in the bedroom the night before.

2^nd nomination wasRebeckah. She spread a rumour aboutHeaven eating all the chocolate and while he doesn’t care about that it’s justnot on to say that about people.

Aden

1^st nomination was Heaven. He said that she creates tension and is aninstigator. He also said that he feelslike he has to ask her permission when he wants to eat.

2^nd nomination was Tom. The reason was the argument last night thathe made some cutting statements even though he didn’t really know what wasgoing on.

Alex

1^st nomination was Heaven. Apparently she has this negative energy thingthat says to people. That leaves peopleunsettled and she doesn’t like that.

2^nd nomination was Maisy. The reason was that she doesn’t understandher humour.

Anton

1^st nomination was Heaven. The reason is that she creates tension in thehouse.

2^nd nomination was Rebeckah. The reason was that she says things thatcreate arguments.

Faye

1^st nomination was Heaven. The reason was that the argument that Heavenhad with Rebeckah could have been handled better and that she felt awkwardabout it. It was made that she had tochoose a side.

2^nd nomination wasRebeckah. She said it takes two people toargue and they both made her awkward.

Harry

1^st nomination wasRebeckah. He doesn’t like her and theydon’t get on. She also causes trouble inthe house, is two faced and is leading Aden on.

2^nd nomination was Aden. He is young but needs to grow up as he isimmature. He’s letting Rebeckah lead himon and needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

Tom

1^st nomination wasRebeckah. She’s doing some shady stuffand has been making Heaven into the bad person when she isn’t.

2^nd nomination was Maisy. She doesn’t help with any of the cooking orcleaning and that isn’t fair to the other housemates.

Louise

1^st nomination was Maisy. The reason was that she doesn’t make senseand it feels like she is watching her. The watching is making her feel uncomfortable.

2^nd nomination wasRebeckah. She said bad things to peoplein the house and that is not right.

Heaven

1^st nomination was Faye. The reason was that since the argument withRebeckah Faye doesn’t seem to want to be her friend anymore.

2^nd nomination was Jay. The reason was that he went and told the boysthat she was eating the chocolate and this caused problems.

Mark

1^st nomination wasRebeckah. The reason was that half thetime she’s fun to be around and the other half she seems to want to killhim. She’s nice to look at but he doesn’twant to live with her.

2^nd nomination was Maisy. The reason was that he feels uncomfortablearound her and that he still doesn’t know much about her.

Jay

1^st nomination wasRebeckah. The reason was that she toldhim Heaven was eating the chocolate and then said she didn’t. That she put him in an awkward position whenshe brought it up again.

2^nd nomination was Heaven. She also brought up the chocolate thing andput him on the spot. He doesn’t likebeing put in awkward positions.

Maisy

1^st nomination was Alex. She just feels awkward around her.

2^nd nomination was Mark. She said she doesn’t feel a connection withhim, that there is a distance between them and that he doesn’t like her.

Rebeckah

1^st nomination was Jay. The reason was that he caused trouble betweenHeaven and her. He also changed somethingthat she had said to him.

2^nd nomination was Heaven. Even though they had made up she feels therewasn’t anything to fall out over. Alsothe treatment she got last night hurt her and Heaven was nasty and upset her.

So that was the nominations. Some of them just left me speechless. Okay so it was mainly Rebeckah and Heaven wholeft me speechless. Went Heavennominated Jay I was like that is s not what happened. Rebeckah also seems to have some delusionsabout what went on the night before. Shedid tell Jay that Heaven was eating the chocolate. We have it on film!

The reaction of the housemates was a bit ofa let-down. Rebeckah was named first andshe just sat there. Heaven was then allit’s her and that she knew she was going to be up.

So now we get to vote to save either Heavenor Rebeckah. I don’t care for either butwant Rebeckah to go just because she put Jay on the spot and to see what Adenwill do without her there.

Big Brother 2011 - 1st Eviction Recap

So Friday 16 September was the firsteviction show of Big Brother 2011! Thepeople up for eviction were Tashi, Harry and Aaron. Of course it was again a vote to savesituation.

The first thing I noticed with the liveshow was that Brian looks like he had a haircut. Not so sure about it actually. Anyway when he said the names of the nomineesI didn’t know what to expect. I haven’tbeen watching Big Brother’s Bit on the Side this time. I had a feeling that Harry wouldn’t be thathigh up on people’s lists but thought it might be a Freddie from Big Brother2009. So the crowd surprised me a bitwith cheering for Harry and Aaron and booing Tashi.

Next up was the recap of the previous day’sevents. The most exciting thing thathappened was Aaron snogging the hell out of Tom in a game of gay chicken. I thought it was quite funny when they felloff the chair while kissing.

Brian then spoke to the house after therecap. The crowd was still cheering forAaron and Harry. Tashi seemed reallyshocked when there were some boos mixed in with the chanting going on. Brian then revealed who got the most votes tosave. I was unsurprised when it wasAaron. Come on, he’s really cool!

Brian then told the house who got the leastnumber of votes. The first person to leave the Big Brother house is Tashi! I’m actually happy about this. Tashi annoyed the hell out of me. It was the crying without tears thing thatgot me.

Now what annoyed me was that they leftTashi in the house for an hour after it was announced that she wasevicted. I had to wait until TheBachelor was over before I got to see the crowd’s reaction and see her interview. I think that was really unnecessary.

When she finally left the house she was ‘crying’. As she stood on the top of the stairs she hada tissue and was wiping the side of her eye but there were no tears. If you’re going to pretend to cry at leastmake sure you can do crocodile tears. The crowd continued to boo her once she was out of the house. That was actually quite refreshing as thecrowd generally cheers when someone exists.

They showed a video of Harry and Aaron inthe diary room asking them what they are going to miss about Tashi. I had to laugh because they seemed to pauselike they couldn’t think of anything. Harry said that he never really talked to her and the most he ever saidwas good morning to her. So how were theboys going to celebrate staying in the house? Aaron was going to have a shandy and Harry was going to have abath. Wow real party animals they are.

So the next nominations will be shown onWednesday 20 September. I really don’tknow who they’re going to nominate this time but it should be interesting.

As a side note it seems that the girlsleaving first tradition has not been broken! It’s a bit weird to think that in every Big Brother so far a girl hasleft first.

Big Brother 2011 - 1st Nomination Show

Last night we say the nominationsshow. I like these show because some ofthe reasons why people get nominated are ridiculous. I also love watching the reactions of thepeople who are up for eviction. Theproblem with this show was that I found 2 of my favourite housemates up foreviction!

I found it funny that when Big Brotherannounced to the house that they have to nominate that so many people wereshocked. Have they been living under arock or are they really that good at acting? Anyway there were a few people immune to nominations because they wongold swimsuits from Pamela Anderson. These were Heaven, Maisy and Rebeckah.

The first person to nominate wasAaron. His 1^st nomination wasTashi. The reasons were that it was allme, me, me with her, that she likes attentions and it’s all about the Tashishow. His 2^nd nomination wasAnton. The reasons were that his littleboy gave him advice to join in and Anton apparently isn’t.

The next person to nominate was Aden. You just know he wanted to nominate Rebeckahbut she was immune. His 1^stnomination was Alex. The reason for thiswas that he clicked with the other girls first. The 2^nd nomination was Tom. The reason for this was that he didn’t go out in the garden with theother guys when Aden lost his gold swimsuit.

Next up was Alex. Her 1^st nomination was Anton. The reason for this was that she’s hasn’treally gotten to know him. The 2^ndnomination was Tashi. The reason forthis was that Tashi never made an effort to get to know her.

Anton was the next to nominate. His 1^st nomination was Mark. He said that Mark was a bit fake, structured andat times you can see his brain working. The 2^nd nomination was Aaron. The reasons for this are that he feels Aaronis quite but will backstab you and that he has to be wary of him.

Faye nominated next. Her first nomination was Harry. The reasons were that they just don’t gel,they have no bond, and don’t click and she find is awkward to talk to him attimes. The second nomination wasAaron. The reasons for this was that itis hard to talk to him, that there is an awkwardness between them and that hedoesn’t seem to like her.

Harry was up next for nominations. His 1^st nomination was Aden. The reason was that he is messy and nevercleans up after himself. The 2^ndnomination was Tashi. He feels that sheis fake and plays this dumb character as well as being an attention seeker.

Nominating next was Heaven. Her first nomination was Harry. Her reason was that he goes to bed early anddoesn’t join in the late night stuff. The second nomination was for Tashi. The reason for this was that Tashi drinks her soy milk even though shedoes drink dairy.

Jay was nominating next. His first nomination was for Harry. The reason for this is that he hunts foxesand doesn’t eat what he hunts. 2^ndnomination was for Aaron. The reasonsfor this is that he doesn’t show emotions, likes to stir things up a bit andJay thinks people would rather see happy housemates than ones that arefighting.

Louise is next to nominate. Her first nomination was Tom. Her reason was that she felt negative vibesfrom him and that he can be bitchy. Hersecond nomination was Alex. The reasonis that Alex talks and laughs about people behind their backs and she does notlike that.

Maisy had to nominate next. Her 1^st nomination was Alex. The reasons for this were that Alex snappedat her and that they do not get each other. The second nomination was Mark. The reasons are that he is hilarious and silly but he does go past thepoint of being funny and he forgot her name.

Mark had to nominate next. His first nomination was Anton. The reasons for this were that they don’tspeak, have had no one on one time and Anton ate a boiled egg in front of himeven though he knew about Mark’s egg white phobia. The second nomination was Tashi. The reason for this is that she likesdressing up as Disney characters and he is sure that is copyright infringement soif he does something funny while she is dressed up it won’t be shown.

Next to nominate was Rebeckah. Her first nomination was Harry. The reason for this was that he kills foxesand that is disgusting. Her secondnomination was Aaron. The reasons werethat he is her worst type of man, that he is cutting with her and that she cansometimes talk to him and other times he seems arrogant.

Tashi was the next one up. Harry was her first nomination. Her reason was that he makes funny commentsbut some of them make her feel uncomfortable to be a girl. Aaron was her second nomination. The reason for this is that he is sarcasticand that makes her feel uncomfortable.

Tom was the last to nominate. His first nomination was Louise. The reasons were that she has not captivatedhim, she’s a bit boring and he feels she doesn’t want to talk to him. His second nomination was Harry. The reason for this was that he hunts foxesand only does it for fun.

So those are all the nominations. That means that the people up for evictionare Harry, Aaron and Tashi. I don’t mindif Tashi goes but I really like Aaron and Harry!

So what were their reactions? Tashi burst into tears. I would like to note that these were faketears because she made sobbing noises but there was no moisture. Also she was able to stop crying prettyeasily. Harry said that it sucks thathis mom is going to see this and his girlfriend will say he was an idiot andshould have been nicer to people. Aaronsees this as a game and nominations are part of it and they all have to gothrough this at some point.

I have to say that some of the reasons fornominations were ridiculous! Now I feelthat fox hunting is wrong and a cruel thing to do but really it’s not likeHarry is hunting them in the house. Noone else was nominated because of what they do outside the house. Also I would like Jay to know that yes I personally would like to see fighting housemates instead of happy smooth sailing.

So that’s who is up for eviction onFriday! I’m really hoping that Tashigoes because that girl annoys me something terrible.

TV Choice Awards 2011 - The Winners

The TV choice awards 2011 were last nightand now we finally know who the winners are. The thing about these awards is that they are voted for by the publicwhich I think is good. This way we getto see what the public think because honestly the TV industry does have anagenda with everything it does.

So let’s take a look at all the winners andwhat we think about that!

Best New Drama

The winner of this award was Sherlock byBBC 1. Sherlock beat Downton Abbey,Single Father and The Walking Dead. I’mactually glad Sherlock won. I personallylove the show and it shows that other people love it as well. The other shows are good but I feel they don’tcaptivate you as much as Sherlock does.

Best Drama Series

The winner of this was Being Human by BBC3. Being Human beat Misfits, Glee andShameless. Honestly I have never seenShameless so I don’t really know about it. I think in terms of drama the best show won from the other three atleast.

Best Family Drama

Doctor Who by BBC 1 won this award. It beat Casualty, Merlin and WaterlooRoad. Okay so I don’t really see howcasualty and Waterloo road are family shows. I wouldn’t let my young child watch them (if I had one). I would actually have like Merlin towin. That’s not to say I don’t likeDoctor Who because I do I just don’t like the new Doctor. Give me David Tennant any day.

Best Actor

David Tennant won this award for his rolein Single Father. He beat BenedictCumberbatch, Colin Morgan and Matt Smith. I total agree with this win. Ithink David Tennant was excellent in this role. Of course Colin Morgan is also really good as Merlin but it doesn’t havethe same tug on the heart as David Tennant’s role. Benedict Cumberbatch is wonderful as Sherlockbut again tugs! I don’t think that MattSmith is doing the Doctor that well so there.

Best Actress

Karen Gillan won Best Actress. She beat Amanda Burton, Vicky McClure andElisabeth Sladen. When you see thecompetition I have to say that she is the best. While the Doctor may leave something to be desired Karen Gillan is goodas Amy.

Best Entertainment Show

This award went to Celebrity Juice byIT2. They beat An Idiot Abroad, TheGraham Norton Show and QI. When it comesto entertainment I have to say that Celebrity Juice deserves this. An Idiot Abroad is funny but can get a bitboring after a while. The Graham NortonShow is a bit meh for me. As for QI Ijust don’t get it. Maybe that’s just meor something.

Best Comedy

The Inbetweeners by C4 won this award. They beat Benidorm, Miranda and The RickyGervais Show. I think they are thefunnier of all these shows. Benidorm isa close second to The Inbetweeners. Miranda I can only watch about one episode every month and the RickyGervais Show often doesn’t even blip my radar. On a side note I can’t wait for The Inbetweeners movie!

Best Gameshow

The Cube by ITV1 won this. The other nominees were Deal or No Deal, TheMillion Pound Drop and Total Wipeout. The Cube, I think, is more of a traditional gameshow compared to some ofthe others. Honestly when I watchWipeout I don’t really think of it as a gameshow.

Best Reality Show

The Apprentice by BBC1 won this award. It was up against I’m A Celebrity, The OnlyWay Is Essex and Peter Andre: The Next Chapter. Okay I love Peter Andre but his show shouldn’t be here. It’s not really a reality show so much as adocumentary type thing. The Only Way IsEssex annoys me so I don’t care that they didn’t win and I’m a Celebrity isgood but not a best show.

Best Daytime Show

The winner of this was The Jeremy Kyle Showby ITV1. He beat BBC Breakfast, LooseWomen and This Morning. Now most peopleare saying that is a bit of a problem because Jeremy Kyle is not as classy orinformative as the other shows. The factof the matter is that the public voted for him so there. I don’t mind the other shows but sometimesyou just want to watch the mess that is other people’s lives. You don’t have to debate or learn somethingnew every time you watch daytime TV.

Best Talent Show

Britain’s Got Talent by ITV1 won this. They beat MasterChef, Strictly Come Dancingand the X Factor. Really who else wasgoing to win this? MasterChef is greatbut you can learn to cook, it’s not a talent. Strictly is wonderful but yet again it is not a talent. The celebs are being taught. The X Factor is good but not my favourite soBritain’s Got Talent it is.

Best Lifestyle Show

The winner of this award is Come Dine WithMe by C4. They beat Gok’s ClothesRoadshow, Grand Designs and Supersize Vs Superskinny. I personally think that Supersize Vs Superskinnyshould have won. It’s the only show thatreally looks at lifestyles. Gok’sClothes Roadshow is daft and annoys me while Grand Designs is great if you wantto watch people build their dream homes.

Best Factual Entertainment Show

This was won by Top Gear by BBC2. They beat Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, EmbarrassingBodies and Katie: My Beautiful Friends. TopGear is great but I would like it more if Jeremy Clarkson wasn’t on it. That man annoys the heck out of me. Big Fat Gypsy Wedding is good but not goodenough for an award. I didn’t know thatEmbarrassing Bodies was meant to be entertainment. Katie should not be allowed to do shows.

Best Food Show

Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals by C4 won thisone. He beat The Hairy bikers, SaturdayKitchen and Something For The Weekend. Out of all of these I would probably watch Jamie if I wanted to knowabout food. Saturday Kitchen is fine butI don’t feel I could make the things on the show. I would not mix food and Hairy Bikers. Something For The Weekend I have never heardof.

Best Soap

This was predictably won byEastEnders. Albert Square beatCoronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks. I think the best soap won here. Ido watch EastEnders and Hollyoaks and think EastEnders is better. The few episodes I’ve caught of the other twoalso tell me that Albert Square is the best.

Best Soap Actor

Shane Richie from EastEnders won this. He was up against Simon Gregson, Danny Millerand Emmett J Scanlan. The others are allreally good actors but they don’t give the same kind of performance as ShaneRichie. I never have trouble believingthat he really is feeling what his character should be which is something Isometimes find with the others.

Best Soap Actress

Another EastEnders win with JessieWallace. She beat Michelle Keegan,Katherine Kelly and Pauline Quirke. Ihave loved Jessie Wallace from the first time I watched EastEnders. She, like Shane Richie, really gets hercharacter and is able to show that emotion on screen.

Best Soap Newcomer

Paula Lane from Coronation Street won thisone. I was a bit surprised that she beatpeople like Jacqueline Jossa, Steve John Shepherd and Emmett J Scanlan. I would have liked Emmett J Scanlan to winjust because of the character he plays. Hello, he’s a gay Irish gangster who beats up his boyfriend yet stillhas fans.

Best Soap Storyline

The winner of this was Coronation Streetfor their 50^th anniversary tram crash. This beat EastEnders Ronnie swaps her babyfor Kat’s, Emmerdale’s Lisa’s rape and Hollyoaks’ Brendan and Ste’s affair gaydomestic abuse story. I thought thiswould win simply because it’s Coronation Street’s 50^th anniversaryshow.

So that’s the TV Choice Awards 2011. Most of the awards I’m actually good withwhich is amazing. I suppose I should saycongratulations to all the winners even the ones that I don’t like. So Congrats!

Strictly Come Dancing - Launch Show Recap

On Saturday Strictly Come Dancing wason. Now honestly I missed last year so Idon’t know if they used the same system as they did this year. Anyway I was assuming that we would have thefirst round of dancers. I was wrong.

What we did get was some weird meat markettype thing where the celebs were introduced to their partners. In previous seasons this used to happen in rehearsalrooms and places like that. Anyway ontothe meat market! Of course we first needto know who our celebs are:

So those are the celebrities who will becompeting for the mirror ball trophy. It’san odd bunch but then it usually is on this show. I’m think Jason Donovan is going to do welland Holly Valance should as well. Although I have to say that Rory Bremner is my guilty pleasure as I havea feeling he may be a bit like John Sergeant.

I have to say that most of the celebs andprofessionals were quite happy with their partners. The key term here being most. The most entertaining reaction was Lulu. When she was told she was partnered withBrendan she shouted no! I don’t blameher. He can be really scary and I wouldn’twant to be partnered with him either.

Nancy Dell’Olio didn’t want her partnereither. She and Edwina were up at thesame time and Nancy wanted Vincent. Personally I think Vincent wanted her as well. Edwina is stiff and I don’t think there willbe an Argentine tango any time soon.

I also think that Flavia is a bitdisappointed as well. She got Russelland that really doesn’t help her chances of winning. Sure he’s a nice guy and all but when youhave competition like he does in a ballroom dancing show he doesn’t stand achance.

During the show we got some dances from theprofessionals but I was a little underwhelmed by them. They didn’t have that same thing where youcan’t look away. The first dance to LadyGaga’s Born This Way. As Craig wouldsay: it was a disaster! You can’t doballroom to this song no matter how good you are. None of the dances really made me stop andwatch.

Anyway the judges are the same asalways. Len is there as head judge withBruno, Craig and Alesha. Out of the judgesmy favourite is Craig because he doesn’t care what people think or if he hurtsfeelings. He is there to judge and hedoes that. My problem with Len is thathe changes what he wants from week to week and couple to couple. For one couple he’ll say he wants traditionalbut with another he says he wants them to spice it up. Make up your mind! Bruno is way to over the top for me and I don’tfeel that Alesha should be there. Sureshe won the show once but that doesn’t mean that she has the knowledge tocritic others.

Anyway we have to wait a whole 3 weeksbefore the next show! What was the pointof this? Ah well, at least it gives mesomething to look forward to!

Big Brother 2011 - The Live Launch Recap

Last night was the live launch of Channel 5’sBig Brother 2011. It was tipped to bethe sexiest yet but I’m not so sure. Anyway Pamela Anderson was in the house watching all the housemates goin. At this point I had no idea what herpart in this would be and I still only have a vague idea. Anyway let’s get to the housemates.

The first housemate is Mark! I couldn’t be bothered to remember their lastnames as it is unimportant. Anyway Markis an idiot or so say his friends. Healso says that he looks like a flamingo when naked. How is that sexy? He also loves animals. He seems a bit meh to me and I feel he couldeasily become annoying. He has zeroconcentration level and seems to have a hard time getting what Brian issaying. Something that is a bit weirdabout him is that he has a phobia of egg whites.

The second housemate in is Maisy! I didn’t know people called their kids Maisyanymore. She wants to be an actress or TVpresenter. She seems a bit ficklebecause she said that she goes from guy to guy even if she is withsomeone. Seems to be an attention whoreto me. When she came out the crowd wasbooing her. She says that she lives forthe moment, cliché much? She thought she was the first in but the Mark pops upand is all hi there’s an egg shaped bath. They didn’t change the house much from the celebs.

Third into the house is Aaron! Arrogant and single by his own admission. He said he’s not a numbers guy when it comesto women which I doubt. He says that hisway is right and he becomes upset easily. It’s a 50/50 thing about whether you like him or not. When he came out I laughed because he hadthis funny walk/swagger thing going that looked ridiculous! The crowd had a mixed reaction to him.

The fourth housemate is Heaven! She’s a model, dancer, blah blah. I have a feeling she may go early but that isjust my first impression, she may become better. She has a problem with fake people andnoses. She says that fake people have nosubstance and no soul. She is honest topeople and they should not mess with her food. The girl eats 8 meals a day! Isthat healthy? She also got a mixedreaction from the crowd. She has themost annoying laugh ever and took way too long to get into the house. Also I would like to state that she has fakehair extensions in and took some into the house with her. Double standards with the fake thing then.

Housemate number 5 is Tom! He is a sales assistant and kind ofcute. He doesn’t like fat girls and isbisexual. He seems a bit weird thatcould be good. I couldn’t help butwonder what the heck he was wearing when he came out. It was like a mesh top with shorts. When he got into the house he didn’t stoptalking. I just noticed that Mark hugs alot.

The sixth housemate is Tashi! She does belly dancing and thinks this is thebest way to use the body. She is loud,out there and a bit too much for me. Shepeaks 5 languages and doesn’t drink alcohol. Loves giving advice and is confident. I’m not so sure about her but the crowd is cheering. I’m doubting the 5 language thing because shehad to think about what languages she speaks when Brian asked her. Brian also said she was slippery, not surewhat that means.

Housemate number 7 is Aden! He sleeps with a teddy. He says that he has the ability to realise whothe true people are because he has a degree in psychology. He seems to be a player and that annoys mebut may be fun to watch. He came outbeing very gangster and I don’t see why. He wants a drink as soon as he got into the house.

Housemate number 8 is Alex! She’s only 19 but I have to say she looksolder. She sees why people compare herto Barbie and so can I. She says thatshe works at the front of the McDonalds where she takes orders and does nothingelse. So in other words she’s acashier. She would not describe herselfas marmite but then I don’t know anyone who would. She wants to proof that not all blondes arestupid but I have a hard time believing she’s up to the task. When she came out I thought she isorange! She also took too long to getinto the house and was making weird noises when she got in.

The 9^th housemate is Harry! He is so posh. He believes that money makes the world goround and wants to be a millionaire by 25. He lives in the country and goes fox hunting. How horrible is that! Poor foxes. He’s bisexual but has a girlfriend and would not mind a romance. The crowd booed him when he came out. He runs a milkshake company and you know hisparents helped him. He also wants to bea gay icon but I always thought you had to be gay for that. He also has no sense of smell and owns 15horses. He hugged Mark and asked what isyour name sir? Who speaks like that?

Housemate number 10 is Rebeckah! Not sure what she does for a living but Ithink she’s an escort. Anyway she runs adance school for the under privileged. The majority of her anger comes from men which should make being stuckwith 7 men in a house for 2 months fun. She wants to spice things up by teasing the boys. She is very giggly and started crying whenshe got into the house. It seems likeMark and Heaven have become the welcoming committee.

The 11^th housemate isAnton! He thinks he’s hunky but I’m notseeing it. He said he was here for the peoplebut he’s not going to do anything for the people if he wins. He was part of the gang culture but went toprivate schools. Says this allows him totalk to anyone from gang people to Stephen Fry. He was the coolest coming out so far but did these uh huh noises thatannoy me. He took tobacco into the houseeven though he doesn’t smoke. Bribecurrency anyone? He didn’t want the hugMark gave him.

Housemate number 12 is Faye! She does not have a nice body no matter whatshe says. Any girls that annoy her shewill attack. I’m wondering if this isgoing to lead to a cat fight in the house. She looks a lot better when she is fully clothed. She said that she was there to have fun. Change her tune a bit there after facing thecrowd. Brian asked if she brought heralter ego and she said we’ll have to wait and see. I have to admit that she is prettier than theother girls in the house so far. Theboys are checking her out. I have to askif she did say she’s from London, Midlands?

The 13^th housemate is Jay! He is a plumber, barber and fitnessinstructor. How does he do all thosethings? Anyway he is a Geordie throughand through. I had a really hard timeunderstanding him. He also speaks Geordielingo which I do not understand at all. At least Brian didn’t understand either. He says he wants to do Newcastle proud and that the eagle haslanded. Not sure what that means. He actually creeps me out a bit. I am starting to like Mark more with eachhousemate that goes in.

The last housemate and number 14 isLouise! She is a model but says she isnot your typical model. She watchesintellectual TV shows like Bargain Hunt. No offense to Bargain Hunt but I don’t think it counts as intellectualTV. She would rather marry a chef than afootballer. Boys don’t come up to herbut she is normal and will not bite. Shesays a man wanted to marry her if she got elocution lessons but she wouldn’t. I’m wondering if she knows what elocutionlessons are. She is so stupid and a bitslow. She wanted to join the army but wedon’t know why she didn’t.

So all the housemate are inside now andthey still don’t know that Pamela is lurking around. The gates blocking the garden start to openand everyone screams when they see Pamela out there. I have to say that Pamela does a fair amountof screaming herself. I can’t reallymake out what all the people are saying because they are all kind of talking atthe same time. That is where itends. Still don’t know why Pamela isthere and what her point is.

Well the first eviction will be nextFriday. Don’t know how nominations willbe done and if they have anything to do with Pamela. There’s no-one really good looking or exciting. I was hoping to have another Bobby to look atsince this was supposed to be the sexiest house ever.

Celebrity Big Brother - The Final

So last night was the Celebrity Big Brotherfinale. I was actually looking forwardto this not only because we get to find out who wins but because thesehousemates are a bit boring and I wasn’t the attention seeking public in thehouse. Anyway the lines were open for afew minutes at the beginning of the show while we see highlights.

The highlights were of their last mealtogether as housemates. It’s a nice setup but Big Brother gave them oysters. Not everyone eats oysters in fact Jedward make a fuss about the factthat they have never had them before. Asyou can tell I don’t like oysters. Anyway Kerry was going on about how she was going to cry. I couldn’t help but think: ‘How is this anydifferent than any other time?’ I swearthat woman cries about everything.

Jedward were then given awards to give outto the other housemates. I don’t know ifwe got to see all the awards or just a few. The awards we did see were best couple (Amy and Lucien), funniest (Paddy),best housemate (Bobby) and most annoying (Jedward).

Well now it was time for the first personto leave the house. When Brian spoke tothe house the crowd wasn’t really on the ball at all. They usually boo people but they made somehalf committed cheer boo thing or they were chanting.

So the first person out of the house isBobby! Can’t say I’m thatsurprised. No-one seemed to like himeven though I was voting for him. Thephone lines were then reopened. Ithought that was a bit of a money making plot by Channel 5. Oh well not much I can do about it.

Now it was Bobby’s interview. I was looking forward to this because he wasso cool when he came out. On a side notethe crowd was cheering for him then when they hated him all the time! Fickle! Bobby said it was good to be back in the real world and that he lovedfacing the crowd. Brian said we allassumed he would have a romance in the house but Bobby said that he couldn’tcompete with his mate Lucien for a girl (Amy). Then we got onto sweat-gate. Bobby said that Darryn was a bully and he didn’t like him during thefirst week but he did feel remorse about what he did. On a side note Brian will not let the manspeak! Hello it’s an interview with himso let the man finish. It’s not theBrian Dowling show! Bobby wants Jedwardor Paddy to win!

Now it was time for the next eviction. The next evicted housemate is Darryn! Boy, he did not seem impressed by this. I honestly think he thought he could winthis. The crowd again is cheering eventhough they booed earlier for him.

Brian said he was excited about theinterview with Darryn. Why? Anyway Darryn said his life is arollercoaster. He also said he didn’tsee himself reaching the finale. No oneis going to say that they saw themselves there. He also thinks that it was the fact that he has his own opinion that hadhim nominated so often. He said that hewas himself in the house. If that’s whathe’s usually like then I don’t want to know him. He said that the house needs calm and peacewhich I thought was a bit rich coming from the main instigator of thehouse. I kind of stopped listening tothe interview after that.

The next person out of the house isLucien! Lucien annoyed the hell out ofme in the house flitting from one girl to the next. Everyone said he was good looking but I neversay it.

So Lucien said that he was scared of beingbooed by the crowd. To me this says thathe knew what he was doing in that house. Brian asked if no lady was safe and that Lucien flitted from Pamela toKerry to Amy to Kerry to Amy. Luciensaid it was a bit of fun and he was just having a good time. When asked if he likes Amy he said he did atone point but has now come around. Thisis a far cry from when he said he wanted to date her outside the house. Kerry he called his big sister and Paddy washis best mate. He learnt in the housethat you shouldn’t follow the crowd and I couldn’t help but think that he is 19and still giving into peer pressure. Hewants Paddy to win.

The next person to be evicted is Amy! I kinda saw this coming. No matter how popular she is she was nevergoing to win. I think she was quiteupset about this. I don’t think shewould have stopped to say goodbye if Kerry hadn’t made a big fuss. I have a feeling that Kerry or Paddy is goingto win which is ridiculous since Kerry was annoying as hell and Paddy didn’t doanything.

She was asked if she fancied Lucien. She of course said no. Why would she change her mind now that she isout of the house? She always said it wasa bit of fun. That’s really all I gotout of that interview because Amy bores me.

Now in 3^rd place isJedward! Alright so I wanted them to winbut I had little hope that they would. This just cements in my mind that this could well have been a setup. Everyone was all for Jedward to winbut they don’t. Some people seemed toboo them when they came out which is odd since it was all cheers earlier. Does the crowd get prompts or something?

Brian is a bit concerned about the noiselevel when doing this interview. Jedwardsay they are happy to have got this far. They also only had 2 suitcases each but air packed their clothes. The jackets they were wearing were signed byPaul McCartney! I would never actuallywear that jacket. They think the reasonwhy they never got a single nomination is that everyone in the house lovedthem. They also could never have donethis without each other. They were askedwhich girl they fancied and Edward said John like Amy and Tara Reid. They don’t say who they want to win which inmy mind says that they want neither to win.

We now have the final two. I sort of want Paddy to win just because it’sthe less of two evils really. At thispoint Kerry seems very calm and confident that she is going to win. Did she know something we didn’t?

The winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2011 isPaddy!

Kerry now had to exit the house and she wasmaking these weird ooh ooh noises. I don’tknow if she is trying to laugh, cry or shout. She doesn’t seem to be coping with the crowd too well. If she was a celeb this would be a piece ofcake for her. Again she says it was forthe kids. Come off it already! She seems really focused for someone who isemotional but then that may just be me. She said that Lucien is like a little brother. I hope she doesn’t treat her little brotherlike that because that would be border line incest.

Now Paddy get’s to come out of thehouse. He is so excited about winningthis it’s actually quite ridiculous. Icouldn’t help but notice that the music was a bit off last night. Anyway I would like to tell you what Paddysaid in his interview but his accent became worse because of his excitement. I did get that Paddy thought Jedward wasgoing to win. You’re not the only onePaddy.

We now got a bit of a spoiler for thenormal Big Brother that starts tonight. Pamela Anderson is going to be in the house! Now I don’t know if this means she will be aproper housemate or if she is just going to be there for the first day or for abit. I guess they want us to watch andfind out.

So that’s the end of Celebrity Big Brother2011 where the man that no-one understands won.

Red or Black - A Review of the Show

So Saturday night was the first episode of Red or Black and I have to say I may be hooked. At first I was a bit unsure about the whole thing but as the show went on and the tension rose I couldn’t look away.

So what is this show and how does it work? We start off with 1000 contestants and get them down to one who gets to spin the wheel for 1 million pounds. So how do they get rid of 999 people? Well it’s all a question of red or black?

Through a range of scenarios the contestants have to decide whether it is red or black. Some of the games they will be able to pick the colour while others they don’t have a choice at all. The common thing through all of the games is that the answer will be red or black.

How when I first saw the ads for this show I thought they all the games would be where the contestants have to pick a colour. That is not actually the case as the sometimes just have to pick an object that may turn out to be red or black and hope for the best. This puts the show into that category of dumb luck for me because you have no real say in some of the games.

Anyway when the contestants are down to 8 they go into the studio to play for the 1 million pounds. At this point I would like to state that I thought there would be a winner every night. The fact is that there will be nights when no-one wins. The reason for this is that the last contestant spins a giant roulette board and has a 50/50 chance of getting the money.

While there were a few things done differently to what I thought I believe that the show is quite a good one. Of course some of the contestants really annoy me. Okay so some of the people on the show really need the money while others don’t need it at all.

Just thinking about the first night we had Angel from Big Brother 2009 on and she wanted the money so she can make a movie with her in it. There was also this lady who wanted the money to buy shoes. Then you get the ones who need it like the woman who wants to buy a bigger house for her family. It annoys me that people who don’t need the money go on shows like this.

Anyway all in all Red or Black is a good show that will run until the end of the week. Seriously they can’t really run it for longer with the amount of money they could give away. I would definitely recommend watching this show. Plus Ant and Dec present it and I love them!

Celebrity Big Brother - The 3rd Live Eviction

So tonight was the 3^rd eviction on Celebrity Big Brother 2011. Up for eviction were Bobby, Darryn, Lucien and Tara. They got there because Pamela did not choose to give them immunity. I personally was hoping that either Darryn or Lucien was going to go. Unfortunately we don’t vote to evict but to save which is really stupid.

Anyway the show started with a recap of everything that happened in the last week. Some of the things that stood out for me that they just had to bring up was the whole Kerry/Lucien romance. I personally think it’s a bit of a show, particularly on Lucien’s part. He never showed any interest in Kerry until a few days ago. I think Channel 5 is pushing the romance thing to get those two in the limelight and get them more publicity. Guess we know who the channel wants to win.

We then go a perfect Jedward moment. The hot water had been turned back on after being off as punishment. Jedward were in the diary room saying that you don’t understand how important hot water is until you don’t have it. Then came the saying of the night for me. John says: Cold water is just so cold.

We then got a recap of the task yesterday which was a shopping thing. Darryn was disqualified in the first round and was being such a baby about it. I saw his arms droop, everyone saw his arms droop!

It was then video time where all the potential evictees get to tell us why they should stay. Let’s see what they said:

Bobby was first on and he said the he has come full circle and started on the back foot. To me this means that he is now on the back foot again but anyway. He also said that he is enjoying himself and is putting effort in.

Darryn was his usual annoying self and decided to use props. He first thanked everyone (wanting to get brownie points much?) then shows a stuffed heart (from the bottom of his heart), at this point I booed at my TV.

Lucien was next just saying that he was having a whirlwind experience and he doesn’t want it to end. Why should we vote for him? He didn’t really give a reason other than he was having an experience.

Tara said she wants to go all the way to the end. A very in it to win it sort of thing going on here. She also said that she’s having fun and wants us to go with her to the end so vote for her!

Anyway we then went back to yesterday’s action and see that Lucien is admiring Amy. So much for a Kerry/Lucien romance. Darryn was also in the diary room complaining about being eliminated. Is Channel 5 trying to make us hate him? If they are then they are doing it really well. After this Lines were closed!

Brian then said all the potential evictees names and the crowd doesn’t seem to know who they like and don’t. They made these weird booing cheering noises.

We then got to see Jedward do their shopping task and it was hilarious. I never thought 5 minutes of shopping could be so captivating.

Now it’s time for the eviction! Finally! So Brian will now tell us 2 housemates that are safe. The first safe housemate is Darryn! The next one is Lucien! What is the world coming to?

So the housemate who was evicted was Tara!

This is just so wrong. Anyway there was no twist like with Pamela and I wish there had been. Tara would have been so much better for that. Anyway during her interview Tara made Brian run away by stating that they (the channel) gets to choose what they show and can sway things. I totally agree with you Tara. Bring back the live feed!

So now with a ridiculous number of housemates still in we are voting for who we want to win. Seriously they have 7 housemates still in there. This is looking more and more like a money making ploy from Channel 5.

By the way I hate the crowd outside the house. They boo Tara while she’s in the house but are all supportive when she is out. Are they getting prompts or something?

Celebrity Big Brother - The Second Eviction

So the second eviction show is over andwhile the eviction itself wasn’t that exciting what happened next was. The eviction was being promoted as a surpriseeviction but I had a hard time thinking what the surprise could be since thehousemates did nominate.

So to start let’s recap who was up foreviction. Darryn Lyons was one of thehousemates up for eviction. The generalreason for this was that he was bossy and it was his way or the highway. Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff was the otherhousemate up. There were quite a fewreasons why from her not listening to people to her karma being bad.

For the last couple of days the lines havebeen open and again it was a vote to save. I have a serious problem with this system because it was always a voteto evict before. Voting to save justseems like a way for the channel to make more money. Anyway back on topic.

When the show started I couldn’t help butthink that Brian Dowling looked good. The crowd at the house was a bit off, I have to say. They seemed to be making the samenon-committal noise for both housemates. Generally one will get a better response but then again maybe they justdon’t care about these two.

Now they showed the inside of the house andthis got me thinking if it is a surprise eviction the housemates shouldn’tknow. Then I thought they have to packtheir bags so there is no way that they can’t have any idea what’shappening.

Anyway the two housemates up for evictionwere given a last chance to get the public to vote for them. They each did a little video in the diaryroom tell us why we should keep them in. Darryn said that he knows we will miss the hair. Honestly I didn’t think it was a very goodvideo and it kind of made me dislike him more. Pamela is giving the money she makes on the show to charity and she saysshe’s enjoying the experience. I likedher video a bit better.

After the ad break Brian was talking to thehouse. I have to ask what the heck wasDarryn wearing. Seriously it kind ofscared me. Anyway crowd shouting wasplaying as well and when he said the housemate’s names they yelled. They seemed to like Darryn and boo Pamelawhich was a bit weird considering before they had made pretty much the samenoise for both of them.

So the second housemate to be evicted wasPamela Bach-Hasselhoff.

Saw that one coming. So she was given 30 seconds to say goodbyeand when she left she said angels watching over you. What does that mean or have to do withanything? I sort of wondered what Brianwas going to do because he seemed a bit uncomfortable with Pamela when they allwent in. The music seemed to take awhile to start up for Pamela but other than that it was a relatively normalexit with minimal booing.

So after being evicted Pamela is shown whonominated her. Jedward were the onlyones who didn’t nominate her. While thisis all fine and dandy I was still waiting for the surprise and it is good.

The surprise came after a bit of talking toPamela about the house and why they didn’t like her (because Darryn said so). Big Brother announced to the house thatPamela was gone; really I’m sure they hadn’t noticed and that half of thehousemates will be up for eviction. Thehouse was quite shocked but the surprise is that Pamela gets to decide who isnot up for eviction.

So Pamela had to choose 4 housemates tosave from the eviction. The firsthousemate that she saved 1000% was Jedward! Next to be saved was Paddy (nosurprise there, they did get on well). Then it was Pamela sexy sister Amy. The last housemate she saved I think was influenced by the shouting ofthe crowd and that was Kerry.

So there is another eviction on Friday andthe housemates up are Darryn, Tara, Bobby and Lucien. I’m personally voting to save Bobby andTara. Couldn’t care less about Darrynand Lucien.

Celebrity Big Brother - View on the housemates

So we are over a week in and I feel that’s enough time to get a feel for the housemates. Now I know this is a bit late considering we already had an eviction but I haven’t had any other time to do this. So here we have my reaction to the housemates so far in alphabetical order.

Amy Childs

Okay so when Amy first went into the house I said she seems to be as stupid as I thought. Well that feeling hasn’t really gone away only now I can add annoying to stupid. Firstly she is stupid no matter what people say because hello, she thinks Sally Bercow owns the House of Commons with her husband. She then started to annoy me with constantly calling everyone honey. It really annoys me that. She annoys me even more by the fact that she was surprised and annoyed that she was chosen as the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz task. Okay so that’s not what annoyed me. What annoyed me was that she became upset and then went into the diary room and said she didn’t really understand what was going on. Heaven help me and save me from Amy Childs!

Bobby Sabel

Bobby was a bit like dry toast for me when he first went in. I honestly wasn’t surprised that he was up for eviction in the first week. Now I’m getting to like him. He seems to have come out of his shell and shows that he is more than a good looking model. I love that everyone in the house annoys him and he tells that to Big Brother. Now everyone and the grandmother seem to have a problem with Bobby and the whole sweat gate thing but I think they are blowing it out of proportions. Okay I have to say that I would be really be upset if I was having the lemonade/sweat thing in my mouth but the fact is that it wasn’t me and it’s funny because it happened to someone else. Plus Bobby did own up to it so there.

Darryn Lyons

When Darryn first went into the house I had no clue who he was and I kind of wish I still didn’t. He is quite annoying and him shirtless freaks me out. The whole abs and fat thing is so not cool. It really looks stupid. I also don’t like the fact that he takes over everything and he’s mean to Jedward. I mean he calls them dipsy and dopsy, what is that about? He also has no sense of humour that I can tell. I would actually prefer that he left in the next eviction.

Jedward

I was actually looking forward to seeing Jedward in the Big Brother house. I mean they were ADD on X Factor what are they going to do confined to a house with older people? I can now say that they have not disappointed me but I’m starting to like Edward more than John. Jedward are basically the main reason I’m watching the how because the others are generally rather boring. I love all the weird things they get up to. Everyone said that they should be separated but I think it’s cute that they do everything together. The separation task that they had was okay but mainly because they were being shocked. I think I may have a sadistic streak.

Kerry Katona

At first I liked Kerry then I felt sorry for her when she had to do the diva task but now she annoys me because it really seems like she is playing to the cameras. Now I know that there is a certain amount that everyone plays to the camera but she’s just on a whole different plane. Her voice is even starting to annoy me because it seems to become whinier every time I hear it. She’s also a bit two faced as she’s nice to everyone and then says things about them to other people.

Lucien Laviscount

So Lucien was a non-entity when he went into the house and he kind of still is. He seems to have latched onto Bobby and did some pranks with him but I don’t know if they were his idea or Bobby’s. He seems to be rather awkward around certain people and he seems to go from hot to cold to hot with the girls. He really is flying under the radar and I’m still not sure about him.

Paddy Doherty

When Paddy went into the house I had very little to say because I didn’t understand what he was saying at all. To be honest I still don’t understand him much of the time. The thing is he is growing on me, kind of like a fungus. He seems to be rather laid back and he puts up with all the things Jedward do. I’m really starting to like him because he’s probably the housemate that you can relate to the most. He’s really quite normal.

Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff

Pamela went in and I was do not want. I still don’t want her but I can’t help but feel sorry for her. The other housemates are so mean to her for no reason at all. The one day Darryn was being mean to her because she cooked chicken in salad dressing. Have you read what’s in that dressing? The same stuff you use to cook chicken in. Seriously what is their problem with her? Kerry also seems to have a problem with her and I think it’s only Paddy and Jedward that don’t.

Sally Bercow

Poor Sally was the first housemate to be evicted. I had a feeling that she would be because hello she’s the House of Commons speakers’ wife. At first I thought she was going to be quite good for the house but she didn’t really live up to what I was expecting. She had a good friendship with Paddy but that was about it. I can’t honestly say that anything she did stands out for me.

Tara Reid

Oh Tara Reid. At first I thought OMG it’s Tara Reid then I thought she’s obviously missing home and then I thought WTF. She seems to have a major problem with Darryn, not that I blame her, but now she has something against Pamela. She’s seems to be getting on well with Jedward and was able to tell them apart for their separation task. Other than that I’m feeling a little blah about her.

So that’s what I think about all of the housemates so far. Not very well apparently. Anyway you can catch the housemates every day on Channel 5 at 9 or 10 depending on the day.

Celebrity Big Brother - Live Launch Recap

So last night was the life launch of Celebrity Big Brother! I was so excited I was practically vibrating. I had read all the rumours about who was going to be in the house and couldn’t wait. First though we had to meet the new host.

Yes sad as it is Davina is no longer doing Big Brother. Instead we have Brian Dowling who was a housemate and winner of Big Brother himself. So, first thoughts on him were that he’s not excited enough. I think it may have been nerves because he got into it more as the show went on. Now enough about him it’s time for the housemates and what we think about them!

The first house mate going in was Kerry Katona! I have to say that she is looking better than last time I say her in a magazine but I got the feeling that she wasn’t very comfortable in those heels of hers. Seriously could she walk at all? I have to say I was a bit worried when she got into the house because she was doing some serious heavy breathing.

Next into the house was Tara Reid! Okay so I honestly didn’t think she was really going to go in there. I mean she’s Tara Reid! Does she really need the money or something? I have to say she looked hot going in but poor Brian didn’t get his hug. It was so clear that she had a hard time either hearing or understanding Brian. It wasn’t as funny as when she got into the house and had no clue what Kerry was saying. She couldn’t even get her name.

Next into the house was Paddy Doherty! Okay so obviously I’m out of the loop as I have no idea who he is. Also I have no idea what he is saying. The presenter said that he wants the girls to fight so he can laugh. Okay I totally get why he would want that because that’s kind of what I want as well. I have a feeling Tara is going to have no clue what he’s saying. I was wrong Tara seems to understand him at least a little.

Next in is Amy Childs! So the Essex girl is really in there. I am a little shocked by how much of an idiot she really seems to be. I was hoping that was an act. I hate it when people use double negatives like she does. Seriously not giving nothing away? That means you’re giving something away! When she went into the house I couldn’t help but this that Tara has become a little tipsy.

So next in is Daryn Lyons! I have no clue who he is and I’m not really caring. I found it funny that the crowd seems to have no idea who he is either. Okay so he’s hoping to find someone in the house that will stimulate him mentally? I thought he know what these celebrities were like. I have yet to see a philosophical discussion on CBB. He took entirely too long to get into the house. Amy annoyed me with the constant I love your hair. He heard you the first time.

Next was Sally Bercow! So the House of Commons speaker’s wife is in the house. Does she really count as a celeb? Anyway I have a feeling I’m going to like her. She’s all down with the establishment and I can relate. I like that she didn’t really tell her husband but you have to wonder if that’s true. I like that she wants to stir things up you need a person like that in the house.

Next up was Lucien Laviscount! He seems nice if a little shy. I can’t believe his mom packed his suitcase. That is so cute and so something you don’t tell the nation. It was funny that the doors didn’t open for a while for him. I felt a bit sorry for him because no one in the house knew who he was.

Next was Pamela Bach-Hasselhof! When they first said Baywatch babe I thought Pamela Anderson. Obviously the wrong Pamela. When I saw her video all I could think was do not want! She also couldn’t walk in her shoes. I loved Brian with her because she was touching him and he was like OMG get off me. I can’t figure out if she is drunk or high or both. When she got into the house no one knew who she was.

The second last housemate to go in was Bobby Sable! At this point I was like no Jedward? Anyway I’m not sure about Bobby. While he is pretty I’m not that fond of models. Although I have to say that when you compare how he talks to some of the others he is ridiculously posh.

The last housemate into the house was JEDWARD! I love these guys! I think it’s going to be really good with them in the house. I mean, they are so ADD. I think that it is adorable that you can’t have one without the other. When they got into the house it was priceless. They did not stop talking. I don’t even know if they were making sense or just saying random words. They know who Tara Reid is and they were all like OMG its Tara Reid. I swear that one of them was rubbing Tara’s arm in that I can’t believe you are real sort of way.

We then found out that the housemates were getting their first task. I thought it was a bit soon but hey who am I to judge? So the housemates didn’t know who to send to the diary room so Kerry went. The task is to act like a celebrity diva and complete three challenges. The first challenge had to be done last night and it was to throw a diva tantrum. Today they will be voting for the biggest diva in the house and it has to be her or she will be punished!

I can’t wait for more! I’m so going to vote to keep Jedward in!

Hollyoaks - 18 August 2011

So today’s Hollyoaks left me in a mix of emotions with a number of questions on my mind. We go some more Bart and Jason, Brendan, Ste and Declan, Liberty and Theresa and Lynsey and Silas made a cameo. The episode didn’t really get me as much today but it was okay.

Let’s start with Bart and Jason. Last we saw they were facing the barrel of a gun. Bart tries to say that they were lost and looked for a phone. The farmer does not believe them so he locks them in the cellar. Bart blames Jason for them being in the farmhouse and Jason says he didn’t force anyone to come. Bart then turns of Jason and says he better hope that nothing has happened to Sinead. Bart then tried to bash the window out but it doesn’t work. Jason becomes a bit teary about them probably never getting out. The farmer then makes an appearance and Jason seems to be having an asthma attack. Bart says that he needs to get his inhaler but the farmer catches him as he tries to go and holds him in a head lock. Jason miraculously no longer needs an inhaler and yells at the farmer who then proceeds to toss Bart to the ground where he bashes his head. Bart is still unconscious and Jason is pleading with the farmer that he needs a doctor. Jason then tries the: my parents are going to be looking for me and the farmer creepily says they will be too late if they do come. Jason then takes off his top and tears it up to use as a cloth to wipe the blood from Bart’s face. He then starts talking to Bart about how he never stopped thinking about him and that he still loves Bart. Bart then wakes up and Jason puts his top back on. Jason the tries to wipe some more blood off Bart’s face and Bart asks what the material is. While Jason is a bit shy about having taken off his top Bart says that he still thinks about Jason as well. He also says that he still loves Jason. Jason says that he shouldn’t say things like that because it gets his hopes up and then they will just be broken again. Bart and Jason then kiss and we see that Sinead was outside the window the whole time and heard Bart say he loves Jason.

Last time we saw Liberty and Theresa they hadn’t opened their exam results and feared the worst. Well today they opened them and found that they passed. Theresa doesn’t get the same marks as Liberty but they seem happen. They meet Liberty’s dad and brother and talk about what they are going to do. Will asks if they will be going to college and Theresa says she’s going to find a job. Their dad then leaves and Liberty goes to pay the bill. Will then tries to ask Theresa out but before he can Liberty comes back. Later Will shows up at Theresa’s house intent on asking her out and Theresa says yes.

The Lynsey and Silas story continued a bit and is linking itself with Brendan and Declan. So Lynsey is at the store and bumps into Silas and leaves without her shopping. Later she goes home to find that the shopping she left in the store is in the house. She asks Brendan and Declan if they put it there and they say no. She says that Silas must have been in the house and Brendan doesn’t believe that someone would break into the house to leave the shopping. Next we see Lynsey she is getting phone calls but when she answers there is no one. She asks Brendan if he tried to call her and he says no. Then she tries to make amends with Brendan and Declan for her paranoia by making them dinner.

This all links into the Brendan, Ste and Declan story line. Brendan is going into his office and stops to get some alcohol when Ste confronts him about his ultimatum. He really just tells Brendan what he already said. Brendan is in his office when Declan comes in and asks for some cash for the chippie. He then asks why Brendan hit Ste and Brendan says that he shouldn’t have done it. Brendan then says that Declan knows the he would never hurt him right and Declan says he does. They then go to the chippie and then home where they meet up with Lynsey. After Lynsey goes to her room and they are eating Declan says that it’s weird to think that Ste is gay because he looks so normal. Wow what a homophobic thing to say! Brendan looks a bit uncomfortable about this. Later they are at the park and Brendan says he has to tell Declan something. No he doesn’t say he’s gay as per his agreement with Ste. He tells Declan that he hit Ste because Ste was weak. While he was doing this speak he looked really creepy and I would be freaked out if my dad spoke to me with that look on his face. Anyway they go back home and Ste arrives. He figures that Brendan hasn’t done anything and Brendan says that Ste won’t go to the cops. He won’t because Ste says that it won’t help anyway. Brendan then says that Declan needs stability and he’s already found the perfect woman. Cut to Lynsey dishing Declan some food and Ste is all no way. Brendan then smirks and enters the house.

So that was today’s Hollyoaks. I was left with a lot of questions. How can Bart still love Jason if he ran off with Sinead? How can Jason just take him back? How did the farmer not notice Sinead sitting outside his house? Is Declan really a homophobe or does he think that’s what his dad wants to hear? When will the story with Lynsey and Silas finally end? Hopefully I’ll get some of these answers at some point.
